DrawWake Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
DrawWake ("the App") respects your privacy and collects only the minimum information necessary. This policy explains what information the App handles and why.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information (User ID): If you use the friend-sharing features, you authenticate with Sign in with Apple. The App receives an identifier (User ID) from Apple to create your account and sign you in. You can use Apple's private email relay; the App never stores your real name or actual email address.
- Display name & profile: Your display name and avatar settings, shown to your friends.
- Posted content: Morning drawings (images), comments, and reactions you choose to post.
- Group information: If you use groups, we store the group name, icon, time zone and creator, which groups you belong to, your per-group display name (if set), and invite codes. Drawings posted to a group are visible only to that group's members.
- Group invitations & group prompts: If you invite a friend to a group, we store who invited whom to which group and their response (accepted or declined). If you set a prompt for a group or answer someone's request, we store the prompt text and who answered. Invitations require the invitee's consent — no one is added to a group without accepting.
- Daily group vote: If you vote in your group's daily vote ("today's funniest drawing" and similar), we store which group, which day, who voted, and which drawing they chose. Your vote is visible to the other members of that group and to no one else. You can change your vote, but it cannot be withdrawn. Voting for your own drawing is not possible. A vote disappears together with the drawing, the group, or the account it belongs to.
- Stored only on your device (never sent to our servers): challenge timing and accuracy records used for the Insights tab, your group-prompt streak, and card style / favorite settings.
- What your drawing looks like (on your device only): While you draw, the App guesses what the picture might be, in order to comment on it and to decide whether the challenge is cleared. This runs entirely on your device using Apple's built-in image-recognition and word-similarity features. Your drawing is never sent anywhere for this, and the guess itself is not stored or transmitted.
- Mood & daily note (device only): If you record how you felt in the morning, it is stored on your device and in your own iCloud only, and is never sent to our servers (your group cannot see it). The daily note and lucky prompt are generated on your device from your account identifier and the date — nothing is sent anywhere, and we never ask for your birthday or star sign.
- Approximate location (only if you allow it): Used solely to obtain today's weather, which the alarm can read aloud. Location is off by default; you turn it on yourself in the alarm's settings. We ask iOS for a coarse position (accurate to roughly one kilometre), send it to Apple's WeatherKit to fetch the forecast, and never store it — neither on your device nor on our servers. Outside Japan, the same approximate coordinate is also sent to MET Norway for the precipitation forecast. Apple's handling of that request is governed by Apple's own privacy policy; we receive nothing back but the weather. While you have picked a region by hand, no location is used at all. Declining changes nothing except that the weather is not shown.
- Usage state: Minimal settings stored on your device (e.g., notification toggles, consent status) needed for the App to work. We collect nothing for advertising or tracking purposes.
2. Where Your Data Is Stored
- Alarm settings and your personal drawing gallery are stored on your device and in your own iCloud (Apple's private database).
- Data for friend-sharing features (friends, groups, stories, feed, comments, prompts) is stored on the cloud service Supabase. Post images are uploaded only when you explicitly tap "post." Stories automatically become private after 24 hours.
- Retention of post images on the server: On the free plan, post images are automatically deleted about 20 days after posting (the post record and comments remain). On the Premium plan, images are kept indefinitely. Your on-device gallery is never affected by this deletion.
- Payment information: Subscription payments are processed by Apple (App Store). The App never receives or stores your credit card or other payment details.
3. Tracking & Third Parties
The App does not track you for advertising and does not sell your information to third parties. Data is used solely to provide the App's features.
The only outside parties involved are these five: Apple (Sign in with Apple, iCloud, App Store payments, and — if you turn on the weather — WeatherKit); Supabase, the cloud service that stores the friend-sharing data described above; and three parties used for weather and the rain radar — the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) (precipitation forecasts for Japan, and the radar map tiles), LibreWXR (radar map tiles outside Japan), and MET Norway (the Norwegian Meteorological Institute; precipitation forecasts outside Japan).
Here is exactly what each receives. The JMA forecast request carries no coordinates at all — only a prefecture-level district code. Map-tile requests (JMA and LibreWXR) carry no account information; like loading any map, they only reveal which area of the map is being viewed. MET Norway is the only one that receives an approximate coordinate (the roughly 1 km accuracy described above), and no account information is attached to it. All of this happens only while you are looking at the weather or the rain radar. There is no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no other network destination.
Weather data is provided by Weather. The required source attribution is shown in the App under Settings > About and next to the weather setting.
4. Deleting Your Data
From "Settings > Account > Delete Account" in the App, you can delete all of your data on the server (profile, posts, comments, likes, reactions, view history, prompts, votes you cast, post images, and group memberships — groups you created are deleted entirely). Personal data on your device and in iCloud (alarms, gallery) can be removed via your device settings.
